Batch Regalleos had begun their academic years as a MMMA cadet in the comfort of their homes due to the Covid-19 pandemic and had their New Cadets Orientation Program a year later than supposed, which might have been an obstacle to their development as a cadet. Even so, Batch 2021 held their Academic Recognition and Launching Ceremony last 16th of August with their heads held high as thriving third year MMMA cadets, ready to embark on their next journey.
MOL Magsaysay Maritime Academy had formally handed Batch 2021 over to Mitsui OSK Lines and Magsaysay Maritime Corporation, signifying the beginning of their onboard training — a step closer to receiving their bachelor’s degree. Various awards highlighting different aspects of a cadet such as academic excellence, physical fitness, leadership and service were given to several outstanding cadets who excelled in the said facets. Cadets who had the highest marks in both theoretical and practical courses in Seamanship, Machine Shop, and Electro Technology were also recognized, as well as those who ranked the highest in the Maritime School Assessment Program.
In the second year of an onsite launching ceremony, another leadership awardee was granted a hundred thousand pesos as the Philippine Military Academy Matikas Class of 1983 Leadership Awardee – Cadet Troy Manhangin was commended for exemplary leadership. While Cadet Naser Iqbal addressed the audience as he expressed sincere gratitude towards the institution and the individuals who took part in the cadets’ transformation and development journey.
Closing the event, Captain Christian V. Salcedo imparted an inspirational and motivational speech to the cadets, sharing a list of reminders and experiences that the cadets might find helpful as they embark on their journey outside the academy and into the open seas. The start of their journey in the academy may have been delayed, but they are finishing strong. Congratulations, Batch 2021!
